Priya Goswami is an independent filmmaker based out of Hong Kong. As she divides her time between projects in India and HK, she has co found a transnational organization called Sahiyo working against Female Genital Cutting (FGC) in India and other parts of the world, along with four other women. Her film A Pinch of Skin is the recipient of the prestigious national film award of India.
She perceives her work as conversations and believes in power of cinema to instigate a dialogue, even on the most difficult of matters. She is heavily influenced by pro-human rights, feminist leanings and Woody Allen. She dreams of dismantling generic labels for filmmakers and to create a molten space of subtle yet powerful narratives, which are not necessarily documentary, fiction or experimental; but hold their own.
When she was seventeen years old she called out to be a social theorist and is in search of what it will means for her.
